Organization Profile: During the World War II India faced acute food shortages and to meet the exigencies a separate Food Department was established on 1st December 1942 under the Commerce Member of the Governor General’s Council. Following is the extract of note made by the first Secretary Food, Benjamin George Holdsworth, CIE, ICS, taken from the Home Department File No. 388/42-Public, wherein the proposal to issue a formal Resolution of the constitution of the new Department of Food by the Home department is dealt.

Qualification:
(A)(i) Masters degree in Agriculture Chemistry or Masters degree in Chemistry with Agriculture Chemistry as one of the subject from a recognised University or lnstitute; and
(ii) five years’ experience of research work in Agriculture Chemistry or five years working experience in cane department of sugar factory or other related industrial units or five years teaching experience at degree level in Agriculture chemistry or
(B)(i) Doctorate in Chemistry from a recognised University or lnstitute with essential qualifications specified above, viz.. Masters degree in Agriculture Chemistry or Masterr’s degree in Chemistry with Agriculture Chemistry as one of the subject from recognised University or lnstitute; and
(ii) three years’ working experience in cane department of sugar factory or other related industrial units or three years teaching experience at degree level in Agriculture chemistry.
Job Location: The place of posting will be National Sugar lnstitute, Kanpur (UP), but liable to be posted anywhere in lndia
