Organization Profile: The South Indian Vaniar Educational Trust owes its birth to the far-sighted vision and vigorous initiative of late Hon’ble Justice Thiru. S.A.Ayyasami Chettiar, M.A., B.L., who raised donations from the generous-hearted and public-spirited members of the Vaniar community. He founded the esteemed charitable organization in 1960. The primary aim of the Trust has always been to promote education among all young aspirants seeking the benefits of higher education irrespective of differences in caste creed. The message of the Trust becoming loud and clear more and more donors of the community came forward and offered their contributions. The Government of Tamilnadu assigned the Trust a site of 27.47 acres at a nominal cost. S.I.V.E.T.College came into being at Gowrivakkam in July 1966 in a modestly constructed building.
