Organization Profile: The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon’ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India. The 22 member committee headed by Sri N.R.Sarkar, in its report, recommended the establishment of four Higher Technical Institutions in the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern regions, possibly on the lines of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a number of secondary institutions affiliated to it.

Qualification: 

  • Serving or Retired Professor/ Scientist in pay level 14 or equivalent in any government R & D organization plus 10 years experience in relevant field(s)
    or
  • Serving or retired Professor/ Scientist in any pay level 15 or equivalent in any government R & D organization with experience in relevant field(s)
    or
    Professor/ Scientist in pay level 14 or above having atleast 5 years experience out of at least 2 years of experience in heading any government R & D laboratory or government recognized R &D laboratory working in relevant field(s)

Candidate Profile

  • Candidates should have completed PG/ Ph.D in Respective Branch
  • Commitment towards work
  • Should have good English communication skill

Job Location: Kharagpur, West Bengal

Pay Scale: Director DIA-COE will have a minimum basic pay of Rs. 1,44,200/- depending on the qualification and experience of the incumbent along with other allowances as admissible as per IIT Kharagpur norms.
