Organization Profile: Rabindra Bharati University, was founded on May 8, 1962, under the Rabindra Bharati Act to mark the birth centenary of poet Rabindranath Tagore at his residential house at Calcutta for the advancement of learning and culture particularly in the branches of music, dance, and drama. Assent of the President of India to the Rabindra Bharati Act passed by the Legislature of West Bengal, was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 10th January 1962. After the death of Rabindranath Tagore, the house belonging to Gaganendranath Tagore and Abanindranath Tagore on the south-west side of the main building was purchased by a private party.

Director:
i) A Ph. D. Degree with a high second class Masters’ Degree in any discipline in the areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Education, Commerce, and Management.
ii) At least 10 years’ experience in teaching, research, and/or extension including 5 years of professional experience at senior supervisory level in the areas of educational planning, management, and development including institution building, systems development, etc. Of this, at least 5 years should be in Reader’s/Associate Professor’s scale or its equivalent.
iii) Candidates with relevant experience in the Distance Education System will be preferred.
Assistant Professor:
i) Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject, along with relaxations applicable to specified categories, as explained in the Note 1.
ii) The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC (CSIR) or a similar test accredited by the UGC like NET/SLET/SET, along with exemptions to specified categories, as explained in Note 2.
