About the Institute: Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), a unit of Vidyavardhaka Sangha® Mysore is one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in Karnataka, established in 1997. VVCE has grown in leaps and bounds. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and is recognized by Government of Karnataka. VVCE functions through its Board of Governors constituted as per AICTE guidelines. VVCE is accredited by NBA and NAAC with ‘A’ grade. It offers 7 UG programs, 3 PG Programs and Ph.D programs through 9 affiliated VTU recognized research centers with a student population of around 3500. VVCE is located in the heart of city of Mysuru
About the Department: The Department of Civil Engineering started in 2013 is accredited by NBA and has an intake of 60 students. It is a recognized Research Centre of VTU. It has young, dynamic, qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members from all specializations with an average age of about 35 years. The department has very good teaching learning ambience, well equipped laboratory infrastructure, excellent computational facilities, very good faculty student ratio with focus on practical training and society driven research. Lecture halls are equipped with visual teaching aids and lecture capture facility. The department focuses on overall development of students and faculty and hence, three student clubs organize activities beyond syllabus. This ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAMME is the effort of Research Studio.
About the National Institute of Disaster Management: Being a national Centre and also the National Institute, NIDM has performed a crucial role in bringing disaster risk reduction to the forefront of the national agenda. The Institute believes that disaster risk reduction is possible only through promotion of a “Culture of Prevention” involving all stakeholders. The Institute works through strategic partnerships with various ministries and departments of the central, state and local governments, academic, research and technical organizations in India and abroad and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral international agencies. NIDM provides Capacity Building support to various National and State level agencies in the field of Disaster Management & Disaster Risk Reduction. The Institute’s vision is to create a Disaster Resilient India by building the capacity at all levels for disaster prevention and preparedness.
About Online Training Programme: This online training programme is an attempt to attract new researchers and provide good insight to aspirants working in the area of Disaster Resilience. Disasters have become serious matter of concern world over with huge loss of life and damage to Infrastructure. Hence, it is essential for everybody, especially Civil Engineers to look for Disaster resilient Infrastructure. United Nations and other global bodies, NIDM, NDMA and other national bodies and many research organizations have the focus of reducing human and economic loss and bringing back normalcy quickly after any disaster. This ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAMME intends to provide stimulus in this aspect.
